This past week, CTM covered the following issues.

In China:

• Imports of pineapples from Indonesia and soybean meal from Zambia were authorized.
• Loans to African countries were forgiven; a new loan for Huawei to build communications towers in the Solomon Islands was announced.
• The lists of demonstration and pilot cities for intellectual property rights protection were updated.

In the U.S.:

• Legislation was introduced to restrict Chinese investment in agricultural land and businesses.
• Exclusions of Chinese companies from government purchases of electric vehicles.
• Seven Chinese entities were added to a Commerce Department blacklist.

In other parts of the world:

• A UK order that prevents the acquisition of a UK electronic design firm by a Hong Kong company, on the basis that it "is necessary and proportionate to mitigate the risk to national security."
• At the WTO, an SPS Committee meeting discussion of SPS measures imposed by China or imposed by other Members against Chinese goods.
• China submitted its report to the WTO on recent anti-dumping actions.

In scholarship:

• Papers/articles on Chinese economic coercion and the Chinese sanctions regime.
