Taiwan Will Not Be Part of the Indo-Pacific Economic Framework, For Now

As the U.S.-led Indo-Pacific Economic Framework (IPEF), an initiative of the Biden administration to counter China's influence in the Indo-Pacific region, is under development, there has been a question about whether Taiwan will be part of it. White House national security adviser Jake Sullivan said today that Taiwan "will not be part of the launch of the Indo-Pacific Economic Framework." This came on the heels of U.S. trade officials visiting Taiwan to strengthen economic relations.
