With President Trump's visit to China now complete, we can reflect a bit on what did (and did not) happen. Issues related to the Iran war, bilateral trade and investment flows, AI, and the status of Taiwan were central to the discussions, but whether any significant policy changes will come out of the visit remains to be seen. For the most part, this trip may just serve as a placeholder for future talks during which the two governments try to reach substantive resolutions to these issues.
