At the G7 meetings in Canada, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen offered remarks that sought to unify G7 countries in an effort to push back against Chinese economic policies and practices. To some extent, her comments may have been designed to reduce tensions in economic relations with the U.S., although it is not clear whether they will succeed in that regard.
