A new piece by the European think tank Mercator Institute for China Studies (MERICS) makes the case that Chinese production of electric vehicles will harm European industries and therefore merits the use of trade defense instruments in response. Calls for trade measures in this sector are likely to be taken up by a number of governments at some point in the future.
