The Chinese Ministry of Commerce said on January 13 that foreign direct investment into the Chinese mainland reached a record high of 1.15 trillion yuan ($173.48 billion) last year, and promised efforts to attract more FDI in the new year. How effective such efforts will be depends in part on how China implements its laws and regulations on foreign investment, as well as those on trade and on data.
