At the 2022 Global Services Summit today, former U.S. Trade Representative Mike Froman, who served in that position during President Obama's second term, had a conversation with current U.S. Trade Representative Katherine Tai on various trade issues, including China. Tai said that her office "will continue to push for market-oriented reforms by China, [a] fair playing field," but in the meantime, the U.S. approach would be to "create the space that we can defend our economic activity and our economic stakeholders to continue to thrive in a world where our systems continue to be pretty incompatible."
