In advance of a visit to China next week, European Commission president Ursula von der Leyen gave a speech today that outlines the latest EU thinking on foreign policy and economic policy relating to China. There were elements of the speech that seemed to push a more aggressive approach towards China than current EU policy, and the overall take from the media was that it was tougher, but the views of China experts on this point varied.
