At the Conference of the 70th Anniversary of China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT, an agency to promote foreign trade and investment) and the Global Trade and Investment Promotion Summit on May 18, Chinese President Xi Jinping called for "dialogue over confrontation, tear[ing] down walls rather than erect[ing] walls, pursu[ing] integration instead of decoupling, opt[ing] for inclusiveness, not exclusion." This may be wishful thinking at a time when the United States is doubling down on efforts to team up with other nations to exclude China from trade and supply chains.
