During a visit to China by Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney, Canada and China were able to work through some of their trade conflicts and reach an apparent truce. However, the Canada-China trade relationship still faces hurdles and long-term uncertainty, due in part to Canada's need to maintain good relations with the U.S. Issues of economic cooperation and competition, security, and human rights will all play an important role in keeping Canada's relationship with China stable going forward.
