China’s Unreliable Entity List (UEL) system has evolved rapidly following significant legislative updates in late 2025 and early 2026. This piece provides a review of the UEL implementation. With the newly revised Foreign Trade Law and the Provisions on Industrial and Supply Chain Security, the UEL system is being more fully integrated into China's broader national security framework and is likely to play an increasingly prominent role in the months ahead.
