Last week, President Biden pushed for the tripling of existing Section 301 tariffs on Chinese steel and aluminum, and the White House made clear that part of the plan is to work with Mexico on reducing Chinese products being shipped through Mexico to the United States. Mexico has in recent months adopted various measures targeting Chinese steel and such imports have already declined.
