China Gets Ready for Meeting with African Officials at Forum on China-Africa Cooperation
The 8th Ministerial Conference of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC
8) takes place on November 29 and 30. Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi and
Commerce Secretary Wang Wentao will attend the conference in Dakar, the capital
of Senegal. A number of topics are likely to be discussed there, including
China Starts Pilot Project to Open Coastal Shipping Routes to Foreign Vessels
Recently, China’s State Council approved a pilot project to open some ports for
foreign vessels to operate coastal shipping. The project will last for three
years, until December 31, 2024. The details of the new policy are still under

Taiwan and U.S. Hold Economic Dialogue, Discussing Supply Chains and Other Issues
On November 23, the United States and Taiwan met for the second annual
U.S.-Taiwan Economic Prosperity Partnership Dialogue (EPPD). The two sides
discussed supply chain issues in multiple sectors, including semiconductors,
health products, and electric vehicles.

decisions imposing fines on companies involved in 43 antitrust cases related to
anti-competitive practices. Fined companies include major tech companies
Alibaba, Baidu, JD, and Tencent.
